Geaux to Physical Therapy is a blog for those who are currently receiving physical therapy services or who would like to learn more about physical therapy. Blog topics will include injury prevention, conditions treated by physical therapists, descriptions of treatment techniques, and other helpful information to keep you moving and healthy. The digital age has allowed everyone access to so much information, which has been empowering, but overwhelming. One of the most important aspects of physical therapy is education and through this website I can present information to my clients and readers in a format that can be referenced wherever and whenever needed. I am a transplant Midwesterner, originally from Louisiana, where many words end in “-eaux,” which is pronounced like the letter “O.” I’m proud of my roots and my alma mater and the title of the site is a reflection of this pride. Geaux Tigers!
About the Blog
Monique Serpas
My name is Monique Serpas, PT, DPT. I am a physical therapist practicing in a general outpatient setting. I treat orthopaedic, balance, and vestibular disorders and practice using a combination of hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and education. This enables my patients to assist in their own recovery and injury prevention. I have further training in the management of vestibular disorders, which cause balance impairments, dizziness, and motion sensitivity. This past spring, I worked with a multidisciplinary team to develop a falls prevention program. Additionally, I am a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Medical Professional, offering services to help prevent and rehabilitate golf injuries. I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Concordia University Wisconsin (2008) and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University (2004). I am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association (WPTA), and the Orthopaedic and Neurology sections of the APTA. I am involved in my professional organization, serving on the Southeast District of the WPTA as Academic Liaison Committee Chairperson.
